We could not be more proud of these young ladies. Their hard work and commitment have left a lasting mark. From the very first game, I told parents there was something special here and this team proved it every step of the way.

Having coached for many years, I had a strong feeling early on that this group was a true state contender. Finishing our first season undefeated confirmed it. What impressed me most wasn’t just the results, but how they came together playing selflessly, trusting one another, and always putting the team first. That mindset set the tone for everything we achieved.

When the spring season arrived, they didn’t slow down they elevated. Another undefeated run pushed their streak to 19 consecutive wins before we faced our first loss at district playoffs. Instead of breaking us, that moment sharpened our focus. We responded the only way this team knows how together and finished strong as Western District Champions.

Then came the next challenge: the State Tournament in McAllen. The heat was relentless, the air heavy, but so was our determination. These young ladies battled through Saturday’s matches and came away with back to back victories, earning their place in the final.

Sunday afternoon set the stage. Two undefeated teams. One championship on the line. From the opening whistle, their heart, grit, and unity were undeniable. And just like they started the season with belief, discipline, and fire they finished it the same way... ​STATE CHAMPIONS!

As a coach, watching them perform in training and then carry that same confidence onto game day was incredible. Seeing them smile, believe in themselves, and trust what we’ve worked on, that’s what makes it all worth it. There was even a moment I’ll never forget: an opponent beat one of our girls off the dribble, and I just smiled and thought, “Good luck getting past the rest.” Because that’s who we are—one gets through, but no one gets through all of us.
