Welcome to Alamo Soccer Academy Select

Alamo Soccer Academy (ASA) Select is our elite competitive program, designed for players ready to train and compete at a higher level. Our mission is to develop confident, intelligent, and passionate players through a structured, player-centered environment that emphasizes long-term growth—on and off the field.

Player placements are open to both new and returning players.

All participants must register to be considered.

ASA Select is open to players ages 9 to 18

When does the season run?

The full season runs from

Fall Season: Mid August through Mid December 2026

Spring Season: Mid January through Mid May 2027

Where are practices and games held?

All ASA Select teams train at Ricos STAR Soccer Complex

Home Field Games are at STAR Soccer Complex

Is there a registration fee?

No — we welcome all players to come experience our training environment, connect with our coaches, and see firsthand what we’re all about.

How often do teams train?

All Teams practice twice per week, typically on Monday & Wednesdays or Tuesday, & Thursdays. Training Times are either 6:00 - 7:30 pm or 7:30 - 9:00 pm

What happens during Player Placements?

Players participate in a soccer session with, small-sided games, and scrimmage-based evaluations. Coaches assess technical ability, attitude, effort, and coachability.

When are team placements announced?

Players are given a call within 24 hours or sooner of Player Placement time they were assessed. Players being considered for select teams may receive updates later that evening.

What if my player isn't selected?

We will help guide you toward another club who has players and teams of that age level. We want all players to play, even if not with Alamo Soccer Academy.

Supplemental Tryouts

There are no supplemental tryouts scheduled at this time. If your player is unable to attend please contact us to request an individual evaluation by reaching out to Coach Danny Mena.

Player Placement: What to Bring.

To ensure every player is ready to perform at their best during the ASA Select Player Placement, we ask that each athlete come prepared with the following:

Soccer cleats
Athletic clothing: white shirt & black shorts
Soccer socks that fully cover shin guards
Shin guards
Water bottle

Team Tournaments per Season

Tournaments & Travel

Teams typically participate in two tournaments per season, along with a State Cup tournament in the spring. Each team will compete in one local tournament within the city and one out-of-town tournament per calendar year.

Typical Tournament Format

Tournaments typically consist of two games on Saturday and one or two games on Sunday, depending on team advancement and tournament rules.

How Far Will We Travel for Games & Tournaments?

ASA Select teams typically compete in seasonal league games within approximately one hour of San Antonio.

For tournaments, teams may travel to larger events hosted in cities such as Houston, Austin, Dallas, and Corpus Christi.

This balance allows players to gain valuable competitive experience while keeping regular travel manageable for families.

Do Families Stay Overnight?

Most of our games are close enough that families can comfortably return home the same day.

Overnight stays are typically only needed for tournaments, and we’ll always communicate this well in advance so you can plan ahead. These overnight stays are generally limited to tournament events.

Is playing time guaranteed?

Yes. Coaches aim to provide meaningful game minutes to all players in great effort for player development and experience playing teams from other cities in Texas.

Are sponsorship opportunities available?

Holiday Calendar

We follow the public school calendar and take breaks for major holidays including Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break. Practices may still be held on shorter weekday holidays, depending on the team and coach.

Are Player Scholarship Opportunities Available?

Yes! Families interested in a scholarship should complete the “Scholarship Request Form.” Once submitted, our Treasurer will review the family’s financial records to determine eligibility. If approved, a dollar amount will be awarded toward the player’s annual tuition to help support their participation.

What’s included in club dues?

Club dues are designed to provide a complete, professional soccer experience by covering essential program costs. These include league fees, coaching fees, field rentals for both training and match days, field lighting, field lining, referees, administrative expenses, and player development resources. Dues also support game video services, training equipment, and tournament entry fees—ensuring every player has access to a high-quality, competitive environment.

Items not included in club dues are training uniforms, game uniforms, team backpacks, travel expenses, and optional team outings.

Weather Cancellations

We "DO" make up training sessions canceled due to weather. However, these dates may fall on Saturday or Sunday.

As for Games we will work with the opposing clubs to reschedule our games on a future date and time for that season.

Club Tuition ?

Yes! Our Treasurer will send you a registration link that includes the option to pay your club tuition in convenient monthly installments.

Please note that your commitment fee will be applied toward your annual tuition. We hope this helps make participation more manageable and accessible for your family.
