My name is Danny Mena, and for over 30 years I have dedicated my life to coaching youth soccer in San Antonio, Texas. Throughout this journey, I’ve had the honor of working with respected clubs and high schools, building lasting relationships with fellow coaches and, most importantly, with the players themselves. From guiding 4 year olds taking their first touches on the ball to preparing 19 year olds for the next stage of their careers, every step has reinforced why I love this game.

My passion has always been rooted in player growth not just as athletes, but as thinkers of the game. I believe the field should be a learning environment where players are encouraged to make decisions, solve problems, and truly understand the “why” behind their actions. When players begin to connect their training to real moments in a match, something powerful happens the game slows down, confidence rises, and their true potential starts to shine.

There is nothing more meaningful than witnessing that breakthrough moment when a player sees what they’re capable of and brings it to life in training or competition. Those moments don’t need words. They are the reason I continue to pour my heart into the game and into every player I have the privilege to coach.
